BOATS AND BEACHES
SOUTHERN CAMP LOCATIONS
Spending the summer in the south of China means that food is your friend!
The Cantonese style of cooking has made it all over the world so trying the authentic stuff has to be done.
In Guangzhou, as well as the famous Canton Tower, you’ll find endless teahouses that will serve you traditional dim sum (sweet or savoury snacks served in steamer baskets) with pots of tea. Yum cha (spending the morning eating dim sum and drinking tea) is the local past time.
From Guangzhou, you can be in Hong Kong within an hour. Most people think of Hong Kong as just a bustling metropolis and although it has this for sure, the area is full of golden beaches, deserted islands, mountain hikes, ancient monuments and even Disneyland!
Macau is a just a boat ride away and it’s history as a former Portuguese colony can be seen in the mediterranean-style pastel coloured buildings and tasted in the famous egg tarts.
South China is also home to China’s Hawaii, Hainan. An island of the south coast of China, outside of the peak tourist season, the cities and towns have the laid back feel of classic beach towns.
Remember
If you have a single entry visa, Hong Kong and Macau are both classed as leaving China so if you plan on re-entering China, you’ll need a new visa.
